Canadian Talent Listing Book(repost)

(I mentioned before that Blogspirit now forces you to pay and if you had a free account it got deleted. So here is another repost(originally posted on Blogspirit):

A complaint often heard by Canadians is to be known in Canada they must first be known in the United States. Once they’re known in the U.S.A. then and only then are they known in Canada.

AHA! I have an idea.! To write a book. Canadians in all walks of life(movie stars, TV & radio people, politicians, journalists, sports athletes, you name it)well-known and those not well-known yet, to be in a book. A brief biography about each individual and other information including where they can be contacted. With my then-trusty typewriter I mailed out a little over 400 letters to people asking them to give some info about themselves for the book. Each letter included a SASE(self-addressed stamped envelope). Realizing people in such positions are very busy I was willing to wait. I waited a little over 2-1/2 years for a reply from the individuals I wrote to. Two people I know for a fact who are Canadian replied saying they don’t want to be included in the book. Two other people replied thanking me for writing them and apologized saying they’re not Canadian and don’t qualify to be in the book.

The two who replied THANK YOU were Tim Blanks of Fashion File on CBC-TV and Juliette Powell who was then on Electric Circus which aired on CITY-TV.

Seven people who replied did give me some information and wished to be included in the book. THANK YOU to:

Brian Williams of CBC Sports at CBC-TV,

Dan Duran who at the time was with eNow! at CTV,

Elwy Yost who was with Saturday Night at the Movies on TVO,

Henry Champ , the Washington news correspondent at CBC-TV,

Mike Myers of Mike & Mike’s Excellent X-Country Adventures on MuchMusic,

Steve Paikin of Studio 2 and Diplomatic Immunity on TVO,

and

Ziggy Lorenc , host of Ziggy. At the time she was with CITY-TV and Bravo!

That’s all the replies I got. Most of them I wrote to I knew were Canadian. Some I wasn’t sure so I asked. Once again though they’re not Canadian thanks to Juliette Powell and Tim Blanks for replying. To the other two who I won’t name and who didn’t want to be included but are Canadian don’t know if I should thank them or not.

THANK YOU VERY VERY MUCH! to Brian Williams, Dan Duran, Elwy Yost, Henry Champ, Mike Myers, Steve Paikin and Ziggy Lorenc for writing back and wanting to be included.

Unfortunately due to the many others who don’t want to be included and lack of interest in the book I had to give up this idea. To all those who are Canadian and didn’t want to be included if nobody knows about you then you have nobody to blame but yourself. None of this “I must work in the U.S. before I’m known in Canada” crap. How do you expect people to know about you if you don’t want anyone to know you exist and don’t want to be included in any kind of list mentioning Canadian celebrities?
